Gordon Mapes - Interim Pastor
Gordon Mapes was raised in San Diego, California and remains
an avid Padres and Chargers fan. He has served churches in
Nelson County, VA as well as on staff at Salisbury Presbyterian
Church and as Pastor of the Brandermill Church, a union church
of PC(USA) and UMC and the largest of its kind in the country.
He has also volunteered on the board of CCHASM, the founding
board of the Life-Long Learning Institute of Chesterfield
County, as a Little League coach and at Gordon Elementary and
Manchester Middle School. He is currently active in the
Midlothian Rotary Club and as Scoutmaster of Troop 1810.
Gordon is married to Susan, a speech pathologist in the
Chesterfield Schools. They are the proud parents of Stuart a
sophomore at James River High School and Chloe an 8th grader at
Midlothian Middle School.
He is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with
degrees in Literature and History, Princeton Theological
Seminary and Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School
of Christian Education where he earned his D. Min. in Practical
Theology. He also attended Oxford University.
